A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was submitted to Dekalb County, Illinois on September 26, 2024. The request was made by DeKalb Times, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.
In the request, we sought records detailing all payments made to vendors from January 1, 2024, through September 26, 2024. The specific fields requested include the vendor name, transaction date, transaction description, and amount.
As members of the media committed to transparency and public accountability, we believe that access to these public records is crucial for fulfilling our professional responsibilities. This includes holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
Given our role in disseminating information to the public, we have also requested a fee waiver as a media professional under the provisions of the Illinois Freedom of Information Act.
We await a response from Dekalb County regarding this FOIA request and will continue our efforts to ensure transparency in local government affairs.
