State Representative Bob Peterson (R-Sabina) has announced that the Ohio Department of Development has released new guidelines for the Welcome Home Ohio Program. The initiative, funded through House Bill 96 in Ohio’s State Operating Budget, allocates $91.2 million over two years to support eligible organizations in purchasing and rehabilitating or constructing residential properties.

In addition to this funding, there is $20 million available in nonrefundable tax credits during the biennium for qualifying rehabilitation projects and new construction once properties are sold.

The application window for this round will open at 10 a.m. on December 8, 2025, and close at 5 p.m. on January 16, 2026.

“The Welcome Home Ohio Program continues to make a meaningful impact by helping communities revitalize neighborhoods and increase access to quality and affordable housing,” said Peterson.

The program was established by the General Assembly in the previous budget cycle and has already awarded nearly $60 million to support the creation of 481 homes across 26 counties. Recent changes made through House Bill 96 have expanded eligibility and increased opportunities for participation. The Department of Development will hold a webinar at 10 a.m. on November 5 to review the guidelines and answer questions from potential applicants.

Further information about eligibility requirements, project criteria, and how to apply can be found on the Ohio Department of Development’s website.
