The Warren County Foundation held its 15th Annual Community Service Awards program Thursday evening, June 9, at Manor House Event Center in Mason, Ohio. Eleven awards were presented in six categories to deserving individuals, organizations, and businesses across Warren County.
The George R. Henkle Philanthropy & Community Service Award was presented to Ohio Senator Rob Portman for his lifetime of service to Warren County and the country.
Trent Heimann received the Emerging Leader Community Service Award for his vision and hard work in converting the old school building in downtown Morrow to the Morrow Arts Center with more than 36 small businesses.
Sinclair College in Mason received the Outstanding Organization Community Service Award for providing quality higher education and community engagement to Warren County and its citizens. The award was presented to Steven Johnson, Ph.D., President of Sinclair College.
The Emerging Organization Community Service Award was presented to PEACOC (Parents Empowering All Children of Color) from the Springboro area. Craig Salmon-Gilmore received the award. The organization has worked to build a safe community for BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) children and adults thru dialogue, education, and programming.
The Outstanding Large Business Community Service Award went to Festo Corporation. The award was presented to Sean O'Grady, Director of Sales Operations. The German-based global leader in automation technology and technical training opened its North American headquarters in Mason in 2015.
The six Chambers of Commerce in Warren County received the Outstanding Small Business Community Service Award for their collective work in supporting and growing small business across the county. The Chambers were represented by: Peggy Darragh-Jeromos, Executive Director, Chamber 45005; Angie Smith, Executive Director, Lebanon Area Chamber of Commerce; Bobbie Grice, President, Little Miami Area Chamber of Commerce; Sherry Taylor, President & CEO, Mason Deerfield Chamber; Marsha Kelly, Board Chair, Springboro Chamber of Commerce; and Kelly Miller, Executive Director, Waynesville Area Chamber of Commerce. The new Executive Director of the Springboro Chamber, Jack Blosser was introduced.
Warren County Commissioner and Chair of the WCF Board of Trustees, Shannon Jones, was the mistress of ceremonies for the program. Tom Seddon, WCF President & CEO, provided an update about Foundation introducing the new strategic plan. Proclamations were presented to the award recipients from State Senator Steve Wilson and State Representative Scott Lipps.
