The Ohio House of Representatives passed Substitute House Bill 2 today, the state’s two-year construction budget for capital projects. The Capital Budget will make significant investments in local community projects, announced State Rep. Bob Peterson (R-Sabina).

Peterson secured substantial capital investment for Ross County, including $500,000 to renovate Veterans Administration Memorial Stadium, home of the Chillicothe Paints. The funds will be used to install a turf field, replace the outfield wall and seating. Additionally, $250,000 has been allocated to construct the Paint Creek Youth Center Multipurpose Building in Bainbridge. This facility will feature therapy rooms, meeting space, a campus dining hall, and a commercial kitchen.

“Creating common spaces for residents to gather is important to have in our communities,” said Peterson. “I look forward to seeing the completion of both projects.”

“The historic V.A. Memorial Stadium has been a cornerstone of the Chillicothe community since 1955,” said Johnson. “Making stadium improvements will allow more fans to enjoy the space for generations to come.”

Beyond these local investments, Substitute House Bill 2 also includes significant statewide capital investments: $600 million for the School Building Program Assistance Fund; $400 million for the Public Works Commission Local Public Infrastructure and State Capital Improvement Program; and $397.6 million for higher education projects across Ohio.

Substitute House Bill 2 now awaits a signature from the Governor.
