Shawnee State University has been awarded a grant of $1,999,092 to enhance economic development efforts in southeast Ohio. The funding will be directed towards the Investment in Our Future project, aiming to bolster the advanced manufacturing workforce in the region.

The grant will facilitate two main initiatives: the renovation of the Advanced Manufacturing Center and support for the Manufacturing on the Move program. This K–12 career exploration initiative collaborates with local employers to provide students with industry-specific skills.

State Representative Justin Pizzulli (R-Scioto County) expressed his satisfaction with the award, stating, “This funding will spur economic and workforce development in the 90th House District and greater Appalachia region.” He added, “I am grateful for projects like this that instill hope for a bright future in our communities.”
