State Representative Bill Roemer has presented a commendation to Norton High School Athletic Director Travis Dobbins. The commendation recognizes Dobbins for winning the Bruce Brown Award of Excellence, an honor that highlights the achievements of athletic administrators and their programs in educational-based athletics.
The award is named after Bruce Brown, the first Executive Director of the Ohio Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (OIAAA). It acknowledges the work done by athletic directors to enhance interscholastic sports programs.
"Under Dobbin's leadership, Norton High School athletics program continues to improve the experience for Norton’s student-athletes,” said Roemer. “The Norton community is fortunate to have such a dedicated athletic director in the district. Congratulations, Travis.”
Superintendent Bryan Farson also praised Dobbins's efforts: "We are thrilled to recognize Travis Dobbins's dedication to our athletic program and student-athletes. His leadership exemplifies the standard of excellence in Norton City Schools," he stated. "The Bruce Brown Award of Excellence highlights the ongoing efforts of athletic administrators like Dobbins to create a meaningful, well-rounded athletic experience that supports both the physical and educational growth of students."
This year, 32 submissions were received by OIAAA from various athletic administrators across Ohio. After a detailed review process, Dobbins' application stood out due to its quality and professionalism, reflecting positively on Norton High School's athletic program.
