State Representative Bob Peterson has announced the allocation of $1 million to the Ross County Land Reutilization Corporation. The funding comes from the Ohio Department of Development’s Brownfield Remediation Program.
“This investment is a game-changer for Chillicothe,” said Peterson. “By transforming the former CSX property, we are building a brighter future that will bring new development. This project is a significant step toward economic growth and a stronger community.”
The funds are designated for the remediation of the former CSX property near Chillicothe’s City Transit Station. The site is expected to support future residential and commercial development, including infrastructure for electric vehicle transportation. Once completed, plans include affordable workforce housing and transit-related facilities.
The state's Brownfield Remediation Program, which has awarded over $560 million statewide, aims to promote economic growth by redeveloping abandoned properties.
