House Bill 660, aimed at enhancing Ohio's Name, Image & Likeness (NIL) laws, has advanced further in the legislative process. The bill passed unanimously out of the Civil Justice Committee on Tuesday, as announced by State Representative Adam Mathews from Lebanon.

Mathews expressed gratitude for the backing from leading figures in Ohio's college sports community. "I’m thankful for the support of Ohio’s top college sports leaders to help get this bill passed," he stated. He emphasized that the legislation aims to equip student athletes for success both on and off the field by enabling schools and organizations to collaborate effectively in providing legal guidance and platforms.

Introduced at the beginning of the 2024 college football season, House Bill 660 seeks to ensure fair compensation for student athletes. It proposes bridging the gap between NIL Collectives and state institutions while allowing universities to participate officially in compensating student athletes.
