State Senator Nathan Manning recently honored the Avon High School football team for securing their first Division II state championship. The team achieved victory against Cincinnati Anderson with a 20-13 win at the Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton.

Senator Manning praised the team's commitment and teamwork, stating, "These young men have shown true dedication to their sport and each other by fighting to get to the state championship and winning in a tough game." He expressed enthusiasm about the team's success, adding, "We are so excited they are bringing the trophy home to Avon, and look forward to their continued success on and off the field."

The Eagles clinched their win with a crucial defensive play that forced three consecutive incompletions. This victory marks Avon's first state title in school history. It was also their second appearance in a state championship game, having last competed for the title in 2011.
