State Senator Nathan Manning and State Representative Gayle Manning have announced the approval of $67,412,580 from the All Ohio Future Fund for a new industrial "Mega Site" in Lorain County. This funding was approved by the Ohio Controlling Board to develop a 1,000-acre site aimed at boosting manufacturing and industrial growth. The project will be centered around the Lorain County Regional Airport, which will see its runway expanded to 6,500 feet.
Senator Manning expressed optimism about the project's economic impact on Lorain County and the surrounding region. He stated, "The opportunities available in the 13th Senate District will be immense, and this is only the first step in that process."
Key stakeholders such as LORCO, Lorain County Sanitary Engineer, City of Vermillion, City of Avon Lake, JobsOhio, and Team NEO are involved in this initiative. The county-wide strategic plan includes five pillars: Innovative Industry and Economic Development; Transportation; Workforce Development and Education; Housing; Natural Resources.
Representative Manning highlighted collaboration with local officials including Commissioners Moore, Riddell, Gallagher, and Administrator Jeff Armbruster. She said they have been working for years to make this project shovel-ready.
The All Ohio Future Fund was established in the 2024-25 state operating budget with a $750 million investment for site-readiness to attract economic development projects. Both Mannings supported this fund which is administered through the Ohio Department of Development.
Administrator Armbruster acknowledged the Mannings' support saying it was crucial for moving forward with this project.
